Recruitment goes wrong most often in the gap between what an employer expected and what a worker was told. We narrowed that gap by putting assessment and orientation in the same building, run by the same team.
The trade test
Candidates are tested on the equipment they will actually use, against a written scoring sheet drawn up with the employer. Where a client cannot attend, the session is recorded and the footage shared with the results, so a placement decision is never made on our word alone.
Orientation before departure
Passing a trade test is not the same as being ready to work abroad. Our orientation covers the terms of the contract line by line, the cost of living in the destination city, workplace safety expectations, how to send money home, and who to contact if something goes wrong.
Why both stages sit together
When the people who assessed a candidate also brief them, nothing is lost in translation. The technical notes from the test feed directly into the briefing, and any gap identified during assessment can be addressed before the worker travels rather than discovered on site.
What is next
We are extending the facility to cover additional trades this year, and adding a dedicated room for employer video interviews so clients can meet shortlisted candidates without travelling.
